Ropes & Riggers Signature Reb is our own premium range of classic Japanese asanawa jute ropes (麻縄), created for those who desire high quality, purity, and precision.

Asanawa is the traditional Japanese term for natural fibre rope, used in Shibari and Kinbaku for its vibrant texture, natural grip, and organic feel. In modern Japanese rope bondage, asanawa is closely associated with technique, aesthetics, and tradition.

Our Signature Rope 5mm is the lighter and more precise version in the series. A rope created for those who want more finesse, lighter flow and sharper details without compromising on strength and durability.

The rope is made from 100% Tossa Jute (Corchorus olitorius) and is constructed as a classic three-strand, single-ply asanawa jute rope with a carefully balanced medium-lay construction.

This balance makes the rope both flexible, strong and lively in the hands.

The slightly thinner diameter makes the rope lighter and quicker to work with, making it particularly suitable for:

• More technical constraints
• Detailed patterns
• Finer wraps
• More detailed line work
• Smaller or more petite models

For smaller or more petite models, a 5 mm rope often results in better proportions, greater comfort and a more elegant look, as the rope takes up less space on the body and allows for more refined lines.

Signatur Reb is 100% JBO-free and treated with VOT-batch-processed soya oil, which provides a purer experience, a mild natural scent and less irritation.

The fibres have been treated to reduce fibre shedding and make the rope more stable over time.

At Ropes & Riggers, every rope is hand-treated with our own rope paste, made from cold-pressed tsubaki oil and Danish beeswax, which gives a smoother finish, greater durability and a softer feel against the skin.

The rope is supplied ready for use and develops even greater suppleness and character over time.
