SE og HØR met Henrik Løfqvist – HenRigger, owner of Ropes & Riggers and chairman of Rope Space Copenhagen – at Erotic World.
Shibari arouses curiosity. The ropes, the calm and the close interplay between rigger and model create a visual expression that can fascinate, challenge and open the door to a very special world.
We also experienced that when SE og HØR visited Erotic World and met Henrik Løfqvist — better known as HenRigger — from Rope Space Copenhagen and Ropes & Riggers.
Shibari in the middle of the trade fair
At a trade fair filled with impressions, the ropes created their own calm space. Here, visitors could get closer to shibari and experience how a tie slowly takes shape.
For Henrik, shibari is not just about knots and technique. It is also about presence, trust, communication and the connection that arises between rigger and model.
That exact combination caught SE og HØR's interest and became the article “Henrik binder dig på messen”, which was published on 18 March 2026.

Rope Space Copenhagen — a place for rope and community
In the article, Henrik is introduced as Henrik from Rope Space Copenhagen.
Rope Space Copenhagen is a non-profit association and a dedicated space for people with an interest in shibari, kinbaku and Japanese rope bondage. Here, curious beginners and more experienced riggers and models meet for events such as Open Rope Nights, classes, workshops and special events.
The purpose is to create a safe and inclusive environment where people can explore rope, develop their technique and meet others with the same interest. There is room for both the first tentative knot and the more experienced immersion in the technical and aesthetic possibilities of rope.
Henrik is chairman of Rope Space Copenhagen and through the association works to create the framework for teaching, community and experiences with rope.
Three sides of the same passion
Henrik works with shibari through three different, yet closely connected, paths:
- HenRigger is Henrik who rigs, teaches and performs. Here the focus is on the ties, the Japanese-inspired aesthetics and the meeting between rigger, model and audience.
- Rope Space Copenhagen is a non-profit organisation and a physical community where people can meet, learn and explore shibari in a safe environment.
- Ropes & Riggers the webshop that since 2017 has specialised in rope, equipment and knowledge for shibari and kinbaku.
Common to all three is the passion for rope and the desire to make shibari more accessible without losing respect for the technique, the communication and the human being in the ropes.

From curiosity to fascination
Many encounter shibari for the first time at fairs such as Erotic World. Some are drawn to the aesthetic expression, others to the sensual feel of the rope or the trust that a tie requires.
That is one of the special things about shibari: the experience can be intense without being rushed. Each rope is placed with care, and every tie develops through the interaction between people.
For some, it will be a single fascinating encounter. For others, it will be the beginning of a longer journey into Japanese rope bondage, technique and the many possibilities of the rope.
From Rope Space to Ropes & Riggers
The experience from teaching, performance and meeting people in Rope Space Copenhagen is also part of the foundation behind Ropes & Riggers.
Ropes & Riggers was created out of a passion for shibari and the desire to offer proper equipment for both beginners and experienced riggers.
Today with us you will find, among other things juniper, synthetic rope, rope playground and equipment for shibari and kinbaku. The range is built on practical experience and an understanding that rope is not just rope.
Material, diameter, length, treatment and construction all affect both how it feels in the hands and the sensation on the body.
If you are curious to start yourself, you can explore our selection of shibari rope or read our guides on selection, use and care of rope.
If you want to experience shibari in a community, take part in an Open Rope Night or see upcoming events, you can visit Rope Space Copenhagen.
A moment from our shared history
The SE og HØR article is a snapshot of Henrik’s story — but also of the passion that connects HenRigger, Rope Space Copenhagen and Ropes & Riggers.
The photographs in the article are Henrik's own and capture precisely what we want to show: the concentration, the presence and the special atmosphere that arises when the ropes are allowed to speak.
Shibari must be experienced with respect, curiosity and clear communication. Regardless of whether you are holding your first rope in your hand or already have many years of experience, it begins in the same place:
With presence, trust and the first rope.
