We didn’t develop our rope paste to sell it. We made it because we were missing a treatment that we actually wanted to use on our own ropes.

After many attempts, we ended up with the blend we still use today. The same rope paste that we apply when we hand-treat our own Signature, Ogawa, and Nawaya ropes.

The rope paste consists of Danish beeswax and cold-pressed tsubaki oil. Two simple ingredients that together help keep jute rope in good condition and provide a surface that we ourselves love working with.

Use it when the rope starts to feel dry or needs a slight freshening up. You don't need very much. Work a small amount of paste into the rope with your hands, and let it rest for a bit before using it again.

Henrik's tip

I often see ropes that have been given far too much oil or rope paste. Start with a small amount. You can always give the rope a little more later, but it is difficult to remove excess paste again.
